Looking forward to the new year

Okay, so we're at the end of 2010 and tomorrow is the last day of the year. So much went on this year. I found!!! Trained harder in capoeira than I've ever trained before in any style!! And...started training (I call it dabbling...who knows how long it'll last) once again in Brazilian Jujitsu with a friend (co-worker+supervisor) Although I have been thinking about keeping up with it on a more permanent basis, as long as it doesn't interfere with my capoeira training...and it would be cool if I could get the chance to train in some filipino Kali/Eskrima/Arnis as well.

Bloody weather!

Not had chance to train much this week. Usually get about 4-5hrs a week.

When Negativity enters the dojo?

Hitotsu Jinkaku Kansei ni tsutomuru koto (Seek perfection of character)

Hitotsu Reigi wo omonzuru koto (Respect others)

What if?

The question in my mind, is what if I had joined karate at an earlier stage of my life? How would it have affected me? I surely would not be the same person;is what comes to mind instantly. Half the things that occurred in my life, may never have come to be and perhaps I would have found the happiness as well as confidence I have now, much earlier. Would my resolve be the same as it is now? I do not know that for sure, I was always a dedicated person but who knows.

Greatest training/sparring moments.

My top moments as a martial artist starting with the best.

-Having something to classify myself as.

-Teaching a 12 year old girl (4'7" 150lbs) to throw me(6'2" 190 lbs) using her weight as an advantage. (seeing her father with a huge smile on his face) -When I joined my T.K.D. school.(and made many new friends)

-Speed breaking for the first time in a demonstration with no training for it before hand.

-Taking some gruesome hits and not being overly injured from them.:)

2nd Dan examinations

please inform me about the examinations for the second Dan..i am going to sit for these exams in about 7 months from now and i am a little bit anxious...terrified to be accurate :p!oh and the requirements someone!!thanks in advance!

Looking Foward to dabbling more BJJ

Starting today I'll be training more in Brazilian Jujitsu again with my supervisor who is a brown belt in the art as well NAGA Champ and two time PANAM bronze metal (the second time he should've actually been silver or gold, but that's a completely different story) I look forward to getting back on the matts and learning all over again. It's been a couple of years since I last dabbled in this art. I'm looking forward to being really sore. Every Wednesday at 3pm! I'll probably skip out on Capoeira class tonight~

Hi people, would just like to introduce myself here. Fantastic site with huge potential is this.

Tai Chi and fitness.

I am learning Tai Chi and want to record my progress here.
Hopefully you will find it interesting, and I will find it useful to blog.

Feedback in Martial Arts!

The keys to great martial arts is being honest with one self. Self-evaluation and self-correction is very important to growth in martial arts. Without this measure one could go down the path of self-delusion. The nice thing about martial arts if you have a good teacher they will let you have some room for self-evaluation, self-correction. The personal feedback

A weekend jampacked with capoeira

This weekend is a weekend full of capoeira and it's not the last for this month. Currently in a hotel room with my mestre and a fellow student in Atlanta, GA. Just got back from a day full of capoeira workshops and events. I learned a lot. My feet are red and blisterd from training all day on the hard gym floor (I really need some new martial art shoes). Next capoeira event I'll be going to is in Richmond, KY on the week after next. This is turning out to be a good month!

Tae Kwon-Do was first introduced into the United Kingdom during 1967.

Due to differences in political views arising out of Korea a few different groups came into existence.

Off for a week!

Post#2: I'm off for a week...well, after today! I'm on duty tonight, so when I get off in the morning, I'll be heading to my home state of South Carolina! The occasion isn't that great though. My dad will be having surgery after having recently finished up his kemo treatment for cancer. On the bright side though, there is this capoeira group not far from where I grew up (about a 35 min drive)that did not exist there before. I think it's only been there for a couple of years now or so, and I'm excited about visiting it while I'm down.

The best martial art

I started learning Martial Arts when I was inspired by Bruce Lee and the Kung Fu TV series with the late David Carradine as a kid. At the age of six I began learning Judo, at seventeen I switched to Shotokan Karate. Following thereafter I studied Shu Ku Kai Karate, Tai Chi Chaun, Lotar, (Krav Maga) Kickboxing and Taekwondo under the late Master Kul Suk Chang, coach of the Australian Taekwondo Team for the Olympic Games. For a while I studied Taekwondo, Close Quarters Combat and Zen Do Kai consecutively.

What is life?

The freedom to live in peace.

To love.

To strive for a better tomorrow.

I saw a movie the other day, Fight 93. A movie about the last plane hijacked on 911.

This Week in Martial Arts (Sept 07, 2010)

This week has not such a good week for martial arts. I got only a little training in, but some good things still happened, and of course there is my Taijutsu class. Thank god for that because I really needed it after training only a little this week.

My first live MMA experience!

POST#1 Okay, so I'm checking out the blog here for the first time today. Not sure how this works, but here we go!

I'm very excited about just purchasing tickets to my first live pro mma fight tournament. Art of Fighting 9: Apocalypse. This will take place in the city of Jacksonville, FL at the Veterans Memorial Arena on September 4, 2010 at 6:00 PM!

The main event will be a world title bout between veteran welterweights Delson "Pe de Chumbo" Heleno and Jason "The Kansas City Bandit" High.

This Week in Martial Arts (August 31, 2010)

This week in Martial Arts I learned a few things. The first is the "ki" arm. The "ki" arm is when you bend your arm a little bit. I never understood why the "ki" arm was more powerful or useful but this week I learned that when your arm is stright it is using the tricep only and when it is bent far it is only using the bicep, so when it is bent only a little it is using both the tricep and bicep making it more powerful. I also starting learning the idea of contrappostal.
