Kata Bonanza - 21 April 2012

Well it is that time of the year again where we have a competition called the 'Kata Bonanza'.
Where all the different clubs from different areas get together to compete solely with kata.
We get "stripped" of our coloured belts and we all wear white belts.
Everybody gets a chance to do their favourite kata and we compete in pairs of 2 where one is chosen as the winner regardless of belt colour or kata.
It is all about who executes their kata the best with speed, precision and power.
It starts at 8:00 in the morning and finishes at about 15:00 in the afternoon.
Giving everybody ample time to compete against everyone.
At the end of the day there are technical winners, the 3 top karateka with the highest points, but every single person gets the same trophy (little karate man) to take home.
This has always for me been susch a good way of practicing our kata, over and over and over.
That is more what the whole event is about.
We aslo get to meet other karateka from our other areas (same club) and it's just plain fun all round.
Really looking forward to it.
We are practicing very hard at the moment to impress others at the bonanza.
I will be doing Teki Shodan.

Till then..
